Here are the most asked questions we receive about self storage.

Are your units wind and water tight?
Yes – All our units are new (once used) containers and are guaranteed to be wind and water tight.

Do you insure the goods that are inside my unit?
No – If you would like to insure your goods, go to: for a quote.

Do I have to pay a deposit?
Yes – We require a £30 (Inc. VAT) padlock deposit that will be refunded upon return of the padlock with the 2 keys it will be supplied with. We also require 4 weeks storage fee upfront, with the subsequent on-going monthly fees taken via direct debit.

How do I pay for my unit?
We require all our customers to set up a direct debit which will be taken on the 22nd of each month.

Is there a minimum period I can hire the unit for?
1 week – However there will be a minimum charge of 4 weeks hire.

How do I access the storage site?
You can access the site any time during a weekday. For access on an evening/weekend you will be given an access code for the gate.

When can I access my unit?
You can access your unit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

Do I have to tell you how long I want my unit for?
No – We don’t require you tell us how long you need your unit for. We just ask you give us 5 working days’ notice when you do want to vacate your unit.

What about condensation?
With our new containers we have very little trouble with condensation as they are very well ventilated. If you are worried about condensation we would advise you access your unit on a dry day so you do not take any moisture into the container.

We can also supply a damp stick to capture any moisture. Please ask for a price.

Is the unit secure?
Yes – Shipping containers are inherently very secure. The container, lockbox and padlock offer a high security solution. If you are worried about the contents of your unit you can insure your possession here:

How do I book a unit?
You can use contact form on our ‘Self-Storage Middlesbrough’ website page to fill in your details/ storage requirements and one of our team will be in touch to book you in, or you can call 0330 005 5111 to speak to us now about booking your unit.

We can set you up over the phone or via email, then once your deposit is paid we’ll arrange a time for you to collect your padlock/key.
